Cervical 3: Acne & Skin Problems

When you were small... I mean really small... the size of the tip of a pencil, the tiny body you were developing was forming in three layers. They were the ectoderm (outer layer), the mesoderm (middle layer) and the endoderm (inner layer). From the endoderm formed the hollow internal organs of the body including the intestinal tract. From the mesoderm came your muscles and connective tissue. And from the outer layer, the ectoderm, came your skin and nervous system. The nerves of your body and your skin arise from the same embryological origin. Throughout your life the relationship between nerves and skin remains very close. For example, we know that stress (which arises from the nervous system) is a big factor with many cases of acne and other skin conditions.

Nerve blockage in the upper neck has been shown to interfere with blood flow to the head. A study by Bogduk[13] showed that irritating the cervical sympathetic nerves results “in pronounced decrease in carotid artery flow (30% of control group).” Of course, blood flow to the head affects not only the brain and the senses, but also the skin. Lack of blood flow to the head is referred to as hypoperfusion.

To use an example, if a lawn doesn't get enough water and other nutrients then the lawn will become unhealthy and weeds will take over. If the lawn is kept healthy then weeds are not really an issue. The same is true for skin. Most medical approaches deal with the "weeds" - the bacteria that inhabit unhealthy skin. The real cause is typically somewhere between reduced nerve function and reduced blood flow to the head (due to spinal subluxation), subluxation in other areas of the spine causing reduced detoxification from organs like the liver and kidneys and bowel elimination. And of course, we cannot forget that emotional stress and poor nutritional habits are huge contributing factors.
