Thoracic 1: Esophagus, Trachea
When the first thoracic vertebra in your upper back is subluxated (the technical term for a small misalignment) then the nerve roots that control the esophagus and trachea can be impaired. This can aggravate asthma or make it difficult to swallow or breath. It also makes patients more prone to sore throats and upper respiratory infections.
In clinical practice Dr. Greenwood sees that children and adults with asthma often get significant relief with chiropractic care. In many cases patients have been able to significantly reduce or eliminate their dependence on inhalers and other medications. Sinus problems and bronchitis also clear up quicker when the patient gets regular adjustments.
